Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Southeast Asia located in Sabah, Malaysia. It is protected as Kinabalu Park, a World Heritage Site and one of the most popular ‘bucket list’ destinations in the world. Kinabalu is the highest peak in Borneo’s Crocker Range and is the highest mountain in the Malay Archipelago as well as the highest mountain in Malaysia. Mount Kinabalu is also the 20th most prominent mountain in the world by topographic prominence. The summit known as Low’s Peak is the highest point with height at 4,095.2m above sea level. Usually, climbing the mountain takes 2 days 1 night. The average trek up from Kinabalu Park to Panalaban takes approximately six hours. Mount Kinabalu has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage status.
